October 2017 Scholar Standout - Anna Parsamyan
Name: Anna Parsamyan
Committee: Fundraising
Major: Philosophy
Dream School: Princeton University
Dream Job: General Attorney for the F.B.I.
Fun Fact: As part of my high school senior project, I trained to handle handguns, earned my Firearm Safety Certificate, and went on a ride-along with Glendale PD.
Best Part of the Scholars Program: The diversity. I admire how the Scholars Program is comprised of different students (in terms of background as well as academic interests) with a common goal: becoming the best version of themselves. This program has given me the opportunity to surround myself with an inspiring group of students who have transformed my experience at GCC.
How have you changed since joining the Program: To be honest, the Scholars Program initially appealed to me because I figured it could improve my chances of transferring to a four-year institution down the line. But after being exposed to the visible impact of the Scholars Program not only on the lives of the Scholars themselves but also on the entire GCC student body. I'm motivated to become a part of such a strong, reliable network of peers.
Advice to Future Scholars: Don't be afraid to take advantage of the resources available on campus. The faculty and staff members genuinely want you to succeed, so don't be afraid to reach out for help or to join anything that interests you in the slightest.
