FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

When are the application deadlines?
For Spring admission:  November 15
For Fall admission:  March 15--early deadline; June 1--regular deadline (priority registration will take effect in the following term).
The application is intended to be submitted online so that everything comes together. If there are problems, such as with uploading materials, or if a recommender would prefer to email them directly to scholars@glendale.edu, that is acceptable as long as all materials are received by the deadline. Materials may also be hand-delivered to my office in LB 216, and they may also be mailed to me at:

Michael C. Harnett, Ph. D.
Scholars Program Director
Glendale Community College
1500 N. Verdugo Rd.
Glendale, CA 91208

You may also turn in your documents to Instructional Services, located on the first floor of the Administration Building at Glendale College. If Dr. Harnett or the Scholars Program Assistant is not in LB 216 when you come, you may slide the application under the office door or bring it to Instructional Services in the Administration building, room 145, and ask a secretary to place the application in the Scholars mailbox or Dr. Harnett's mailbox. (Be sure it doesn't get placed in the Scholarship mailbox or another mailbox!). Again, the preference is for all application materials to be submitted online.
NOTE: You will be notified of your admission status 6-8 weeks after the applicable deadline. Contact Dr. Harnett or the Scholars Program Assistant, at scholars@glendale.edu if you have further questions.

What is a Guest Scholar?
A Guest  Scholar is an individual who wants to see what the program is like before committing to the program itself. This entails attending Scholars events and GA's, including taking an honors course. If you choose to do so, contact Dr. Harnett or the Scholars Program Assistant at scholars@glendale.edu, with your GCC Student ID number, and you will be added to the email list so that you may be informed about Scholars meetings and events. Please remember to use your GCC student email for all college correspondence in order to comply with Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) regulations.
