The Committees
Events
The Events Committee plans and carries out a variety of different social gatherings where everyone can let off some steam and get to know each other. The bonds we make as Scholars last the test of time, and our goal is to create environments where these bonds are formed and reinforced.
Outreach
The Outreach Committee does exactly what it says in the title, reach out to students. Not only does the Outreach Committee reach out to Glendale Community College students, but also to prospective Scholars in the area high schools. Outreach's main job is to provide all necessary information and encouragement to join the Scholars Program. Their goals are to show students the benefits of joining the Scholars Program and also to represent what the Glendale Community College Scholars Program is all about in the best ways that they can.
Community Service
The objective of the Community Service Committee is to establish and develop a bond between the Scholars on campus and the world around them. The Community Service Committee provides an opportunity for students to give back to the community and make a difference in the world. Members will gain volunteer experience with various organizations and get in touch with their compassionate side. This committee is about growth on both a personal and worldly scale.
Fundraising
The Fundraising Committee works with members of the program in order to create social fundraisers which not only help fund the program but allow members to interact with each other in an environment with no academic worries. Fundraisers range from bowling and ice skating all the way to simply going out for lunch. The money generated helps fund scholarships provided by the program, the banquet, and events hosted by the program. By contributing to the planning of these fundraisers, we are allowing students not only to escape from everyday worries but also fund future activities, which help the program come together.
Journal
The Journal Committee aims to showcase the creativity of the GCC community through the publication of an creative-arts journal at the end of the year. Various artistic media, such as essays, poetry, photography, and art will be featured in the Journal. Committee members, in turn, will be involved by helping with planning, fundraising, advertising, publishing, and ultimately, distributing the Journal.
The Journal Committee serves as a reminder to Scholars that college is not just about academics and résumé-building; it is also about exploring personal talents and creativity. Furthermore, the Journal offers involvement to any student at GCC: Any current student may submit his or her original work to Journal and get a chance to be published. Thus, the Journal Committee hopes not to only display the creative talents of GCC Scholars, but also to help unify our program with the GCC community.

Inter-Organization Council
The Inter Organization Council (I.O.C.) is an organization of the Associated Students of Glendale Community College, composed of representatives of every club or program on campus. The aim is to promote unity in the student body, promote student involvement, provide financial support for clubs, programs, and organizations, and uplift the social scene of the campus. As the I.O.C. Representatives of The Scholars Program, it is our responsibility to re-register the program with the council at the start of every semester, attend mandatory I.O.C. meetings, petition and secure grants, promote the events of the program and the program itself to representatives of other clubs and organizations, inform Cabinet of events of other clubs and possible partnerships and joint events with them, and secure a club space for the members of the program. The representatives of I.O.C. serve as a link between the program, the Associated Students of Glendale Community College, and of course, the campus.
